In trying to put the finishing touches on this one particular amigurumi project, I came up with two pretty interesting eyes. I’m not going to use them, but here they are.

Materials
Hook: F/5 (3.75mm) Gauge: approx 7 sc per inch
Yarn: worsted weight in black, white, and iris color
Yarn Needle
Stitch Marker

Notes
Pattern consists of two parts sewn together.
Worked in the round.
Starts off best with Magic Circle

Key: ch-chain; sc-single crochet; hdc-half double crochet; tc-triple crochet; ss-slip stitch; sk-skip; st(s)-stitch(es)

Round 1: start with black, ch 3, 10sc in second ch from hook, ss into first sc -OR- Magic Circle 10sc and ss into first sc to join (10)

Round 2: ss to change to iris, 2sc in next 8 st (16)

Round 3: sk two black sc from round one and insert hook into first sc of round two, ss to change to white

Right Eye: starting in first sc of round 2, work sc, hdc 2, sc 7, hdc 2, dc 3, hdc (16)

Left Eye: starting in first sc of round 2, work hdc, dc 3, hdc 2, sc 7, hdc 2, sc (16)

What is should roughly look like at this stage.

For Black Eyeliner

Ch 14 with black and tie off

Pin eyeliner in place across the top of the eye proper, covering the flat part. Whipstitch the eyeliner into place with black yarn and yarn needle.

Weave in ends or leave tails long to sew applique onto project.
